  About the Administrator

Nancy L. Looker has a strong background of experience; over fifteen years with Alzheimer’s and dementia patients. She has worked for the Alzheimer’s Association and has been part of the MAP program (Medicare Alzheimer’s Project). She has also worked as a medical assistant for Good Sam Hospital and Emanuel Hospital.

Nancy is extremely dedicated to her work, and gives a great deal of her time and devotion every day to offer truly exceptional care to her clients. She ensures, "We are all about QUALITY, not quantity." Special geriatrics and Alzheimer's training has prepared Nancy to customize care plans for all client's, including difficult cases. She has been married for 34 years, is very devoted to her family, an active volunteer in the community, and committed to going the extra mile for her clients.

"When it comes to attending to our client's emotional and physical needs, we treat each individual as part of our own family. It is a rewarding career."

As a consultant, she enjoys the challenges of helping families and their loved ones rediscover the quality of life, and returning to a schedule through In- Home Care or a facility. She manages Helping Hands Home Care, Helping Hands Care Management, and Helping Hands Travel Companions, all of which have been providing quality care since 1986. All of these services specialize in challenging patients with dementia, Alzheimer’s, strokes or difficult situations, including assisting with the transition between home and a new location.

Going the Extra Mile

If you have ever spoken to Nancy, even just for a few minutes, you will quickly realize that she is in this business for her love of and devotion to the elderly and those in need of a little extra help. Her compassion and respect for the people she cares for is remarkable. Here are just a few examples of how she goes the extra mile for her clients:

  • Every year, Nancy and her family spend alot of extra time in the kitchen cooking Christmas and Thanksgiving meals for the clients they care for who don't have families. They deliver the meals free of charge- "It is tradition, and its worth it to see the joy on their faces for a home-cooked holiday meal."

  • When Nancy heard one of her clients, who was declining, say that she wished she could feel the sand between her toes again, Nancy made it happen. She personally chaperoned a trip to the beach, complete with a wheelchair-compatible RV. It turned out to be a "perfect day".

  • A grandmother once called the office looking for homecare for her husband. After Nancy assessed their situation, she let them know that they had so much family help that they really did not need a caregiver (unless they insisted); it would be an unnecessary expense for the family, and they were doing everything right already. Instead, Nancy lent them some instructional videos to watch (free of charge), that would give them a little extra education on caregiving, and told them to call her anytime if they needed advice or help of any kind.

  • If Nancy is in the office, but not at her desk, she is probably in the kitchen, making special treats for clients that need their spirits lifted. From fried clams to custard, she seems to make a point of knowing everyone's favorite things, down to the extra special details.
